Good Faith Estimate

Your Rights Under the No Surprises Act · Last updated: June 2026

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your dental care will cost. Under the federal No Surprises Act, healthcare providers must give patients who do not have insurance, or who are not using insurance, an estimate of the expected charges for medical and dental items and services.

What This Means for You

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services.
  • Make sure your provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your service or item. You can also ask for one before you schedule an item or service.
  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

How to Request an Estimate

If you do not have insurance or plan to pay for services yourself, you may request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling treatment. Please contact our office and our team will be glad to prepare one for you.
